چکیده

Let g be a polynomial automorphism of C. We study the dimensions (Hausdorff dimension and topological dimension) of the Julia set of g. We show that when g is a hyperbolic mapping, then the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set is strictly greater than its topological dimension. Moreover, the Julia set cannot be locally connected. We also provide estimates for the dimension of the Julia sets in the general (not necessarily hyperbolic) case.

Filtrations, hyperbolicity and dimension for polynomial automorphisms

In this paper we study the dynamics of regular polynomial automorphisms of C. These maps provide a natural generalization of complex Hénon maps in C to higher dimensions. For a given regular polynomial automorphism f we construct a filtration in C which has particular escape properties for the orbits of f . In the case when f is hyperbolic we obtain a complete description of its orbits. In the ...

Hausdorff dimension in a family of self-similar groups

For each prime p and a monic polynomial f , invertible over p, we define a group Gp,f of p-adic automorphisms of the p-ary rooted tree. The groups are modeled after the first Grigorchuk group, which in this setting is the group G2,x2+x+1. We show that the constructed groups are self-similar, regular branch groups. This enables us to calculate the Hausdorff dimension of their closures, providing...

Computing Vertex PI, Omega and Sadhana Polynomials of F12(2n+1) Fullerenes

The topological index of a graph G is a numeric quantity related to G which is invariant under automorphisms of G. The vertex PI polynomial is defined as PIv (G)  euv nu (e)  nv (e). Then Omega polynomial (G,x) for counting qoc strips in G is defined as (G,x) = cm(G,c)xc with m(G,c) being the number of strips of length c. In this paper, a new infinite class of fullerenes is constructed. ...

Fractal trees for irreducible automorphisms of free groups

The self-similar structure of the attracting subshift of a primitive substitution is carried over to the limit set of the repelling tree in the boundary of Outer Space of the corresponding irreducible outer automorphism of a free group. Thus, this repelling tree is self-similar (in the sense of graph directed constructions). Its Hausdorff dimension is computed. This reveals the fractal nature o...

OD-characterization of $U_3(9)$ and its group of automorphisms

Let $L = U_3(9)$ be the simple projective unitary group in dimension 3 over a field  with 92 elements. In this article, we classify groups with the same order and degree pattern as an almost simple group related to $L$. Since $Aut(L)equiv Z_4$ hence almost simple groups related to $L$ are $L$, $L : 2$ or $L : 4$. In fact, we prove that $L$, $L : 2$ and $L : 4$ are OD-characterizable.
